Recruiting: Shaq Wiggins back on board

Published: January 17, 2013

ATHENS - Shaq Wiggins can be put back on Georgia's official commitment list.

The cornerback from Sandy Creek high School re-affirmed his long-standing commitment to the Bulldogs on Thursday, ending a period of several months in which his status was in doubt. Wiggins, rated a four-star prospect by the 247sports.com Composite, had been taking visits to other schools, including Auburn.

"So for all reporters I canceled the rest of my OV's. I've decided to stay commited to UGA and display my talents there," Wiggins posted on his Twitter account on Thursday evening.

Wiggins should bolster a Georgia secondary that last year lost a bunch of players to transfer and dismissal, and this year loses a bunch more to graduation. Two cornerbacks - J.J. Green and Reggie Wilkerson - have already enrolled. Two more - Brendan Langley and Kennar Johnson - are committed.

Georgia is likely done in the secondary now, with the focus turning to players who can help the defensive front seven, offensive line and tailback.

The Bulldogs now have 29 players for the 2013 class, 13 of whom have enrolled for the spring semester.
