Warner Robins police arrest two men for entering autos

WARNER ROBINS -- Two men arrested early Wednesday after Warner Robins police respond to call at Sandpiper Apartments of a vehicle break-in in progress, police said.

Gerrod Daquna Prater, 29, of Macon, and Keon Dontae Releford, 22, of Warner Robins, were each charged with possession of tools during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving, obstruction of an officer and a loitering/prowling violation, a Warner Robins police news release stated. Prater was also charged with entering auto to commit a theft. Releford was also charged with possession of a firearm during a crime and with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police responded to the 2:30 a.m. call to the apartment complex at 800 Leisure Lake of three men attempting to break into a vehicle. The men fled on foot. Officers saw a Honda Accord behind a building at the nearby Castaways apartment complex at 500 Hidden Harbor Drive. As officers approached, three men got out of the car and fled on foot.

Prater and Releford were captured after a brief foot chase. The third man eluded police. There was no detailed description available of the third man, Tabitha Pugh, public information officer for Warner Robins police, stated in an e-mail.

Releford had a stolen handgun at the time of his arrest, and the Honda Accord was reported stolen out of Macon, according to the release.
