A conditional-use application to allow a group home for at-risk children in southwest Bibb County was approved Monday with no opposition.
The application was approved by four members of the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission. Member Damon King was absent.
The applicant, Selena Hudgins, plans to care for six children, 12 to 18 years old, in a 2,000-square-foot house Hudgins owns at 2490 Heath Road.
Care would be provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a staff of four people, including Hudgins. Two adults at a time would work 12-hour shifts, she said. A lot of kids have a lot of bad situations, Hudgins told commissioners. Children would be referred to the home by the Department of Family and Children Services and not by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
