For almost 60 years, Tops in Blue has been entertaining audiences.

The variety show of the U.S. Air Force makes a stop Saturday at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center in Warner Robins.

The free event features music for all ages, said Capt. Ashley Elmore, a vocalist and the officer in charge.

The group, composed of 31 members, was overseas performing for troops for two weeks during the holidays.

From technicians to vocal performers and live instruments, the members sing and dance to current and older hits.

Elmore said they will perform songs from artists such as Earth, Wind and Fire and Whitney Houston to current hits by Carrie Underwood and Maroon 5.

They also will have patriotic music in the routine.

“We have a very great mix,” she said.

The group usually makes a stop near Robins Air Force Base, and this will be the only time to see the show this year. They travel throughout the U.S. and around the world for 10 months performing their routine.

According to the website topsinblue.com, the crew unloads and sets up more than 60,000 pounds of equipment for the performance, which includes special effects lighting equivalent to 556 lights.

Based at Joint Base San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, each tour group goes through a 60-day intensive training period before taking the show on the road.

Each year, the show and its participants are different.

“We look forward to putting on a great show for the community,” Elmore said.
