Nationally known comedian Huggy Lowdown will have the audience rolling in the aisles when he brings his side-splitting comedy to the Douglass Theatre for two performances Saturday night.

Made famous by his comedy sessions on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Huggy Lowdown can be heard locally on Clear Channel’s V-101.7 FM radio station. Before Joyner, Huggy spent eight years on the Donnie Simpson show in Washington, D.C., where he was voted a favorite radio personality.

“Going from a local radio to ‘The Tom Joyner Show’ was comparable of going from the And1 (streetball) League to the NBA,” Lowdown said in a news release. “Since it’s syndicated it’s a bigger platform. I’m exposed to people all over the country as opposed to the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia-area, where I’m originally from.”

Lately, Lowdown has been touring the country with his stand-up comedy routine.

“People can hear me for free every day, so first and foremost I have to be funny every day to make people want to spend money to actually come see me,” Lowdown said. “They’re going out of pocket and spending their hard-earned money so you have to bring 45-minutes to an hour’s worth of funny to keep people entertained.”
