Construction has begun on a new 64-unit apartment complex in Milledgeville.
Heritage Vista Apartments, which is being built off North Columbia Street at Heritage Place, is targeting households with annual income below $37,000 for a family of four, according to a news release.
The two-story apartment buildings will feature eight one-bedroom units, 40 two-bedroom units and 16 three-bedroom units, the release stated. The apartments will be furnished with Energy Star appliances, ceiling fans, washer/dryer connections, microwaves and a patio or balcony.
A community building will feature a computer center and on-site laundry, and the complex will include a playground, gazebo and picnic area.
Preleasing is under way and the first apartments are expected to be ready in mid-spring.
Birmingham, Ala.-based Gateway Management Co. will manage the apartments. The company manages Powell Place and Villas in Barnesville. Funding for Heritage Vista comes from the Georgia Housing Finance Agency Home Program and Affordable Equity Partners, the release stated.
