One person was killed and others were hurt in separate accidents in Macon and Bibb County early Thursday morning.

Rescuers tried unsuccessfully to revive a female victim of an accident that happened at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Tucker and Forsyth roads near Wesleyan College, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Central High School senior Nashandra Finney, 17, was with her father in a white sedan headed south on Forsyth Road when a sport utility vehicle turned toward Tucker Road and into their path, witnesses said.

Finney's father is undergoing surgery for his injuries, Jones said.

It is unclear whether the SUV driver was injured.

Bibb County deputies are investigating a one-vehicle accident that happened at about 6:45 a.m. on I-475 southbound past the Tucker Road overpass.

Christine Kpor, 60, of Macon, lost control of her 2005 Lexus ES350 and hit the center barrier wall, according to Lt. Sean DeFoe, public information officer for the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Kpor was taken to a local hospital where she was in stable condition, DeFoe said.

A child was also reportedly hit by a vehicle at Hillcrest and Napier Avenue at about 7:20 a.m., but no further information was immediately available about that accident.
