Deputy Sean Defoe said the body of Mechell Loraine Fincher, 46, of Byron was found inside the 2007 Mustang which he said left the roadway at a high rate of speed early Wednesday morning, struck brush and trees, and flipped several times before coming to rest in a wooded area. “We’re still trying to determine why this happened,” he said.

One woman is dead in a single-car accident on Industrial Highway in south Bibb County near Middle Georgia Regional Airport, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
The victim was identified as Mechelle Fincher, 46, of Howard Street in Byron, who died from injuries sustained in the wreck shortly after noon.
Jones said Fincher’s 2007 Mustang GT went off the road close to the border of Bibb and Peach counties.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
