Former Macon Housing Authority employee indicted on theft charges

Published: January 8, 2013

Bibb County grand jurors indicted a Macon woman Tuesday on allegations she stole money from The Macon Housing Authority while being a “fiduciary employee,” according to court records.

Ebony Shae Hughley, 33, of Nesbit Drive, is charged with three counts of theft by taking, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.

Although the theft allegedly began in January 2009 and continued through 2010 and into 2011, it wasn’t discovered until 2011, according to the court filing.

June Parker, interim executive director for the housing authority, said she couldn’t comment about how the theft was discovered or how much was taken.

She said Hughley hasn’t been an employee since October 2011.

Hughley was charged with fiduciary theft and forgery on Nov. 7, 2011, and was released on $5,900 bond later that day, according to Bibb County jail records.
