Five people were cited or charged for firearms offenses in Macon in the hour after 2013 began Tuesday.

Three men were arrested at Sherwood Arms Apartments, 3441 Bloomfield Drive, at 12:05 a.m. after officers heard gunshots while they patrolled Van Zandt Drive, according to a police report released Friday.

Officers pinpointed the gunfire to the apartment complex, heard additional shots fired and found three men with guns, according to the report.

Eric Daniels, 30, and Barry Burton, 28, both of Macon, were charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits. Christopher Durand, 23, of Macon, was charged with reckless conduct with a weapon, according to police.

Quivonda Beard, whose age or city of residence was not listed in the report, was cited for discharging a firearm in the city limits after an officer on patrol heard multiple guns being fired behind a house in the 2300 block of Robinhood Road. Beard admitted to police that she fired a gun into the air, according to another police report.

Another officer spotted a man firing a rifle at a tree in the 5300 block of Finsbury Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Antonio Jamel Miller, 28, of Macon, was cited for discharging a firearm in the city limits, according to the report.
