Boothill

Friday at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Boothill was born out of three Macon bands: Acoustic Chaos, Stoopgrass and Gun Shy. Now, the band has taken on a life of its own and has been traveling the country with their brand of fired-up country-rock. They even recently opened for Wayne Mills at Cox Capitol Theatre. For what started out as a side project, Boothill seems to be a successful venture. 21 and up. 10 p.m. $5.

Dirty Bourbon River Show

Friday at the Rookery

The Dirty Bourbon River Show puts on a show like none other. Whenever they stop in Macon, it’s going to be a good time. This New Orleans-based band brings the spirit of the Big Easy with them as the place turns into a second line complete with horns. This music, while definitely New Orleans jazz, also has elements of gypsy and circus music -- a surefire good time. 21 and up. 10 p.m. $5.

Doski Wo

Saturday at Cox Capitol Theatre

Macon’s most outlandish hip-hop artist has put together his wish list and all he wants for Christmas is some dope MCs, meaning the best in this area. He has invited Big Rube, Y’all Street, the Stixxx and many more for a night of hip-hop fun. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, they are also hosting a blanket, coat and toy drive, because nothing beats a party with a cause. 18 and up. Doors open at 7 p.m. $20 entry; $15 with a toy, blanket or coat.

Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra

Saturday at Neva Langley Fickling Hall, Mercer University

The Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra, the string orchestra and select chamber ensembles present their 2012 Christmas concert. This year’s concert will include “Jupiter” from the Planets by Holst, Norwegian Dances by Grieg and Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 459 and more. 7:30 p.m. Free. Call 301-5502 for more information.

Gannon Adams and Travis Denning

Saturday at the 567 Center for Renewal

This concert of young up-and-coming country artists comes together to support a very good cause. Proceeds from the concert will go to Rock By the Sea, which supports the pediatric brain tumor program at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital. We’ve seen both Gannon Adams and Travis Denning play here in Macon, but this time they bring along Marty Evans and Lauren St. James as well. 6:30 p.m. All ages. $10.
