Parking on some downtown Macon streets prohibited due to parade route

Parking will be prohibited in areas of downtown Macon from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday for the Middle Georgia Christmas Parade.

The parade begins at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Closed streets will include: Cherry Street from Fifth Street to First Street, First Street from Cherry Street to Mulberry Street; Mulberry Street from First Street to Fifth Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Walnut Street to Poplar Street and Fifth Street from Mulberry Street to Oglethorpe Street, according to a police news release.

Free parking will be available at the Poplar Street Parking Deck (475 Poplar St.), the Poplar Street surface lot (674 Poplar St.) and a surface lot on Fifth Street. The Mulberry Street Garage (460 Mulberry St.) will be available after hours, according to the release.
