Northside will travel to Waycross Friday to play Ware County after losing a coin toss Sunday to determine which school would host the GHSA Class AAAAA semifinal matchup.

The Eagles (13-0) advanced to the semifinals after a heart-stopping 23-20 win over Tucker on Friday. The Gators (12-1) beat Stephenson 14-0. Ware County has won 12 straight following a season-opening loss to Coffee.

The teams met in a memorable state championship game in 2007, one week after Northside beat Tucker in a memorable come-from-behind win. The Eagles won 20-14 after Tijuan Green found Nick Bass for a touchdown on a halfback pass in the fourth quarter for the game-winning points. The victory was the Eagles’ 30th in a row.
