Boaters on Lake Tobesofkee might want to use a little more caution beginning next week as Bibb County officials lower the lakes water level for maintenance by property owners and the county.
The lakes water level will be lowered to six feet below normal beginning Tuesday and will remain lowered until Jan. 29, the county commission said Friday. This will allow the county and property owners to repair swimming areas, boat ramps, docks and sea walls. Signs will be posted to warn boaters of the lower level.
In a news release, county officials warned the lower water level can be dangerous for boaters as there are hidden obstructions just below the water line, especially as the lowering process is beginning.
