Cotton Avenue Hustlers at Billy’s Clubhouse

The Cotton Avenue Hustlers are one of Macon’s best kept secrets when it comes to music. Hopefully, after this Friday’s show at Billy’s Clubhouse, the secret will be out of the bag as the Hustlers celebrate the release of their second album, “Rose Hill.” The Cotton Avenue Hustlers play fun Macon-inspired bluegrass music and put on a really great show. Here’s your chance to see them live and pick up a copy of the new album. 21 and up. 9:30 p.m. Free.

“A Grand Mercer Christmas” at the Grand Opera House

Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music kicks off the holiday season with a Christmas-themed concert that will include performances but the Mercer Singers and the McDuffie Center for Strings. The concert is hosted by Georgia Public Broadcasting and will be recorded by PBS for a national showing during the 2013 holiday season. Tickets are free and must be reserved in advance. Call 301-5470 to see whether tickets are still available. Concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Wall at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Sometimes you just need to go out and hear some good classic rock. It’s good for the soul. When the band on stage is playing songs that you can sing along to, it makes you feel young and free. Well, this is that type of night. Macon’s favorite classic rock band, The Wall, takes the stage at one of Macon’s favorite live music venues, the Hummingbird. 21 and up. 10 p.m. $5.

The Met Opera Live in HD at the Douglass Theatre

The Met Opera is broadcasting its performances in high definition to theaters across the United States and Canada, and the Douglass Theatre here in Macon is one of those lucky theaters. For this performance, singer Elina Garanca portrays Sesto in Mozart’s “La clemenza di Tito.” The show starts at 12:55 p.m. Tickets are $24 general admission and $20 for seniors and students. He Is Legend at the 567 Center for Renewal

Eleven hardcore, metal bands invade the 567 Center for Renewal for 152 Fest on Saturday. He Is Legend has made quite a name for themselves amongst the young hardcore fans in Macon. They return to the 567 for a night of head banging good times. They are joined by Issues, the Offer, Be Easy and many others. All ages. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. $12.
