The Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission gave the go ahead Monday to allow major renovations at a convenience store at 893 Riverside Drive.
Plans include tearing down the existing Exxon convenience store, a training building, part of the gas canopy and fuel pumps. The permit is only for the demolition work and renovations to the gas pump area and a separate permit will be issued for the new building.
Plans call for a new 3,800-square-foot convenience store, about 400 square feet larger than the existing store, to be built in the back corner of the lot adjacent to Burger King.
In other business commissioners:
Ratified conditional use to allow a second dwelling with variance in lot width requirements at 2224 Midway Road.
Ratified certificate of appropriateness and variance in design requirements to allow design and material approval of a privacy fence at 1116 Ash St.
Approved variance in height and setback requirements to allow a fence at 107 Arlington Row.
Approved conditional use to allow an electronic graphic display sign with variance in distance requirements at 5642 Houston Road.
