Stevens Layne and Gringo Grande at Mellow Mushroom

Mellow Mushroom helps relieve the stress of the start of the holiday shopping season by putting on a great night of music. Stevens Layne hails from Nashville, Tenn., and features Macon’s own Molly Stevens on vocals. Stevens became known as a singer in Macon for her deep, soulful, country vocals and now she returns with her full band. They’re joined by local favorites Gringo Grande, FreeLance Ruckus and Louise Warren. All ages. 5 p.m. Free admission.

Michelle Malone at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Michelle Malone has gotten a lot of press lately -- even gracing the cover of Georgia Music Magazine -- for the release of her newest album, “Day 2.” While she is no stranger to Macon’s music scene, it has been awhile since we’ve seen the Atlanta singer-songwriter folk artist. If you love to hear songs full of the stories of life, this is your event. 21 and up. 10 p.m. $5.

Saturday November 24th

The Neal Lucas Band at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

The first time I heard the Neal Lucas Band was at the Opening Act. I was invited to come listen to these guys by a friend who claimed they had run across a great up and coming new blues act. I was very skeptical, but I figured I’d give it a shot. About two songs in I didn’t have to hear any more. I was impressed. This three-piece wasn’t overdoing it like some new blues bands tend to do. They were all very solid on their instruments and they could play a great cover as well as their own material. If you are a blues fan, you won’t be disappointed with this show. 21 and up. 10 p.m. $5.

Sugar Virus at the Cox Capitol Theatre

Lately there have been more hardcore/metal shows happening around town. Ten years ago, it seemed that there was a metal or punk show happening each weekend and Sugar Virus was always right there in the forefront of the movement. Here we are in 2012 and Sugar Virus is still pulling the hardcore fans and bands together. All ages. 7 p.m. $10.

Wednesday November 28th

Lance Daniel at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Lance Daniel is a long way from home. This Spokane, Wash., native is traveling the road making a name for himself. Delivering a mixture of alternative rock, reggae and funk, he wears his musical influences on his sleeve. Perfect music for the carefree nights that Wednesdays at the Hummingbird have become. 21 and up. 10 p.m. Free.
