City Auditorium to be site of biker safety advocate’s funeral

Published: November 21, 2012

Hundreds of people are expected in downtown Macon for the Sunday funeral of Delmar Singleton, coordinator of District 7 of ABATE, American Bikers Active Toward Education.

Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at the Macon City Auditorium, with a brief service at 2 p.m.

A caravan of motorcycles is expected to escort Singleton’s body to Avondale Baptist Church for burial.

The church is on Cochran Field Road, not far from Smiley’s Flea Market.

AP’s Hidden Hideaway will hold a memorial for Singleton Saturday following the Love Run to benefit the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home, that begins at Junior’s Junction in Byron at 1 p.m.

Singleton, 62, sustained fatal injuries Saturday evening in a Houston County accident.

The retired Macon Housing Authority maintenance mechanic was struck by a van coming up behind him while he was stopped at a red light on his 2012 Triumph motorcycle on Ga. 247 and Davis Drive.

Hart’s Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
