Man dies in motorcycle accident

WARNER ROBINS - A Macon man on a motorcycle died after being hit by a van at a red light Saturday.

According to a Houston County Sheriff’s Department release, the accident happened at 6:03 p.m. at the intersection of Davis Drive and Ga. 247.

Delmar Singleton, 62, riding a 2012 Triumph motorcycle, was stopped in the northbound lane of the intersection for a red light. The release stated that James Leroy Edwards, 80, of Juliette, was also traveling in the northbound lane in a 2005 Chevy Astro van when he ran into the rear of the motorcycle, pushing it 363 feet down the highway. Singleton was thrown from the bike and later died at the Houston Medical Center.

Edwards was also transported to the Houston Medical Center and treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

Charges are pending against Edwards, according to the release.
