Demolition has begun on the old Coca-Cola Bottling plant in Fort Valley. The building, located on Camellia Boulevard, is being torn down to make way for a Wendy's restaurant. Workers removed the unique concrete Coca-Cola sign that dominated the front of the structure last week. The sign will be used in the design of the new building. Fort Valley Mayor John Stumbo paid for the sign's removal. The decision to allow new owner Danny Strickland to demolish the historic building angered quite a few folks in the community.
