Bibb County Commissioner Lonzy Edwards is changing hats beginning this weekend as he leads a free premarital counseling seminar.
The seminar, conducted in two segments lasting three hours each, will be held at the Mount Moriah Family Life Center, located at 2789 Millerfield Road. Edwards, whos also a pastor and lawyer, will lead both sessions.
The times are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 24.
The seminar is for couples who are already engaged, and both the prospective bride and groom must attend both sessions.
Edwards said hed wanted to put such a seminar together for two or three years.
Marriage is a big issue in all our communities, he said. Marriage and family, he said, act as antidotes to societal problems that are killing us.
In Bibb County, the fees for a marriage license total $77. However, if a couple presents a certificate of completion of a premarital education program at the time of applying, a $40 application fee is waived.
The upcoming seminar satisfies the requirements of Georgia law.
To register for the seminar, call the church at 745-1890.
