Telfair County Elementary School Veterans Day program: Local veterans, parents and families are invited to attend. At 9 a.m., kindergarten through fifth-grade students will host the program with inspirational readings to commemorate the day, and the school chorus will perform patriotic music. Veterans Day ceremony: 11 a.m. at the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Highway SE, Milledgeville.

Flag retirement ceremony: 2 p.m. at the Carlyle Place Senior Living Community, 5300 Zebulon Road, Macon, where several veterans live. The ceremony will be led by a young employee who is an Eagle Scout, and there will be people in uniform from the Macon Police Department, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and all branches of the military.
