A big chunk of Interstate 16 through Middle Georgia will be rebuilt under a contract announced Thursday.
The Georgia Department of Transportation said it awarded a $55.9 million bid for the rebuilding of 29.7 miles of Interstate 16. That work will stretch from Ga. 26 in Laurens County to Ga. 29 in Treutlen County.
The work is slated for completion by June 2015. The beginning of the work has not yet been scheduled. Work includes rehabilitating concrete, milling, resurfacing and rebuilding ramps.
Work will be led by Apac-Tennessee Inc. (Old Castle Materials, S.W.) of Taylors, S.C.
