PREP FOOTBALL UPDATE

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

NORTHSIDE 35, WARNER ROBINS 28

Eagles quarterback Glenn Smith threw three touchdown passes in the first half to stake Northside to a 21-0 lead. Two of those went to Keshun Hill, who added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second half. The Demons rallied, but never did tie the game and Northside earned the Region 2-AAAAA title.

CARVER-COLUMBUS 26, PEACH COUNTY 17

Carver earned the Region 2-AAA title while handing the Trojans their first home loss since Nov. 14, 2008. The Tigers took the lead with an 80-yard scoring drive to open the second half. Carver shut out the Trojans from there.

JONES COUNTY 63, HOUSTON COUNTY 42

Greyhounds wingback Undre Williams rushed for 318 yards and four touchdowns. Houston County led 28-20 at halftime, but the Greyhounds exploded for 29 points in the third quarter. Taylor Boyett passed for 254 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears. He also ran for three scores.

WESTFIELD 35, PINEWOOD CHRISTIAN 6

Asa Coody scored two touchdowns with a catch and a run. With a balanced offensive attack, the Hornets built a 28-0 halftime lead.

PERRY 30, RUTLAND 10

A.J. Riley and Jamal Bagley each scored defensive touchdowns to stake Perry to an early 14-0 lead. Malik Doyle rushed for over 100 yards for the Panthers.

MARY PERSONS 21, VETERANS 7

The Bulldogs’ ground game proved too much for the Warhawks.

PREVIEWS FOR UPCOMING GAMES

HOWARD (1-9) at PERRY (5-4), Fri., 7:30 p.m.

The Panthers can secure a playoff berth if they manage a win against Region 2-AAAA’s cellar-dweller.

LAKESIDE-EVANS (5-4) at WARNER ROBINS (7-2), Fri., 7:30 p.m.

The Demons need to rebound from their loss in the city championship to lock down second place in Region 2-AAAAA.

NORTHSIDE (9-0) at EVANS (3-6), Fri., 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles look to secure a 10-win season for a 15th consecutive season.

VETERANS (3-6) at BALDWIN (5-4), Fri., 7:30 p.m.

The Warhawks need an upset to match last year’s win total.

HOUSTON COUNTY (3-6) at GREENBRIER (1-8), Fri., 7:30 p.m.

Houston County has a chance to end the season on a positive note.

WESTFIELD (8-1) at TIFTAREA CHRISTIAN (1-9), Fri., 7:30 p.m.

Win or lose, the Hornets will open the GISA playoffs at home.

SOUTHWEST-MACON (2-7) at PEACH COUNTY (8-1), Fri., 8 p.m.

The Trojans will have to content themselves with a second-place finish in Region 2-AAA.
