NFL rookie from Perry named parade grand marshal

The Green Bay Packers’ Casey Hayward has been named grand marshal of Perry’s second annual Independence Day parade.

The NFL rookie grew up in Perry and was a standout at Perry High School, leading his team to the quarterfinals during his senior year in 2007.

Hayward, who played at Vanderbilt University, was drafted in the second round by the Green Bay Packers. He leads all rookies with four interceptions leads and is in a tie for third overall.

The parade is scheduled for June 30.
