Macon ties record high temperature; cool weather ahead

Published: October 26, 2012

Plenty of sunshine warmed Macon to a record high temperature Thursday.

The mercury hit 86 degrees at 3:18 p.m., which tied the record high set in 1984, 1949 and 1940, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday’s high is only expected to hit the low 80s, shy of the record of 88 set in 1919.

Next week brings a shift to cooler than normal temperatures with highs forecast in the 60s and overnight lows in the mid to upper 30s, Monday through Thursday.
