An afternoon commitment hearing for one of the four people charged with murder in the slaying of a Macon legal secretary has been canceled.

Courtney Nicole Kelly, 23, had requested the hearing at a first-appearance proceeding after her arrest two weeks ago.

Kelly’s grandmother, Rosalind Celetano, said Kelly decided to waive her right to the hearing on advice from a court-appointed attorney.

Kelly and three others are being held without bond at the Bibb County jail in connection with the death of 58-year-old Gail Spencer.

Spencer was found dead in her home on Stinsonville Road in the wee hours of Oct. 6.
