The Macon Water Authority received the Gold Award from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies at its annual meeting Monday in Portland, Ore.
The award is presented for exceptional utility performance.
Tony Rojas, executive director of the MWA, said the award reflects the dedication of the employees and board of directors.
Our Board continues to provide us with the support and resources we need to improve our operations, Rojas said in a news release. And our employees, through their efforts and hard work, make it possible for us to provide our customers with the quality services they deserve.
This is only the fourth time a Georgia water utility has won the AMWAs Gold Award.
The honor recognizes a commitment and dedication to sustainability, the local community and environment through effective utility management.
Water systems in Colorado, South Carolina and New York also received 2012 Gold Awards.
