Published: October 19, 2012

A 13-year-old Williamson boy died as a result of a Sept. 30 ATV accident in Monroe County, said Allison Sherman-Willis, spokeswoman for the Monroe County sheriff’s office.

Jacob Woerner’s father, Clay Woerner, told authorities his son had been driving the four-wheeler too fast and crashed into a steel cable, according to the incident report. A deputy found Woerner lying on a trail on McCommon Road around 11:30 a.m., the report stated.

Woerner was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and suffered serious neck injuries. He was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia and later died.
