Community meeting on proposed shelter site set for Monday

Bibb County commissioners have scheduled a town hall meeting for Monday night to hear from residents about the proposed site for a new animal shelter.

The shelter is planned for county-owned property on Fulton Mill Road in west Bibb County, built with $3 million in sales tax proceeds.

The meeting will be held Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, located at 5455 Mount Pleasant Church Road.

Among those scheduled to attend are commission Chairman Sam Hart, commissioners Lonzy Edwards and Joe Allen, Sarah Tenon, the new director of animal welfare, and architect Gene Dunwody.
