WARNER ROBINS -- After weeks of battling Tucker for the top spot in Class AAAAA, Northside finally grabbed No. 1 by itself for the first time this season.
The Eagles received all 10 first-place votes to move to No. 1 in the AP Georgia high school football poll, which was released Tuesday. The Eagles benefitted from Stephensons win over Tucker to claim the top spot. Stephenson jumped from fourth to second, while Tucker fell to No. 5.
Warner Robins fell one spot to No. 10.
Peach County remained No. 1 in Class AAA, but Thomson received one first-place vote to prevent the Trojans from receiving unanimous support. Washington County was No. 3.
Westside moved into the top 10 for the first time when it entered at No. 10 in Class AAAA. The Seminoles will have to fight to stayed ranked when they travel to Milledgeville Friday to take on Baldwin.
Calhoun earned unanimous support in Class AA following Brooks Countys narrow win over Fitzgerald, which fell only one spot to No. 5. Vidalia remained at No. 3, while Lamar County moved up one spot to No. 4. Bleckley County was the highest vote getter of any unranked team, and the Royals will have their chance to jump into the top 10 when they play at Lamar County on Oct. 26.
