Applications for Bibb County magnet programs being taken

Published: October 16, 2012

If you want to get your child into one of the Bibb County school system’s magnet school programs, you’ve got one month to apply.

The process has opened, with an application deadline of Nov. 16.

Specialty schools and programs in the school district are: Alexander II Math & Science Magnet School; Burdell-Hunt Communications Magnet School; Vineville Fine Arts Academy; Miller Magnet Middle School; Central High School IB Program and Central High School Fine Arts Magnet; Hutchings Career Center; Northeast Health Science Magnet; Southwest Law Academy; and Westside Pre-engineering Magnet.

Open houses are scheduled at the schools in the coming weeks, and there are also other key dates in the application process, depending on the school and the program. See www.bibb.k12.ga.us for more information.

Applications and program descriptions for the elementary magnet schools were sent home with all kindergarten through fourth-grade students in the county, and applications for Miller Magnet Middle School were sent home with every fifth-grade student in the county, according to a statement from the school system.

High school applications are available on the school websites.
