Mississippi head coach Hugh Freeze is Monday night's speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The club meets Monday at The Methodist Home for Children and Youth at 304 Pierce Ave. The program begins at 6:25 p.m., a few minutes earlier than usual, and Freeze will speak right after dinner. Cost for non-members is $30.
Southwest is this week's featured high school.
Gary Stokan, president and CEO of the Chick-Fil-A bowl, was to be next week's speaker, but had to cancel. Georgia Military College head coach Bert Williams will fill in.
Freeze in his his first season as head coach at Mississippi, succeeding Houston Nutt as the program's 37th head coach. Freeze, who turned 43 on Sept. 29, has been an assistant at Arkansas State, San Jose State and Lambuth (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as well as Mississippi. He was head coach for a year at Arkansas State (10-2 in 2011) and two seasons at Lambuth (20-5), and has been coach of the year in the Sun belt and Mid-South Conference.
He took over the Rebels last December. Mississippi improved to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the SEC with Saturday's 41-20 win over Auburn.
