Boy Scouts camping gear, trailer stolen from Kathleen church property

Published: October 5, 2012

KATHLEEN -- About $13,000 worth of camping gear and the 6-by-12 foot trailer it was stored in were stolen from Andrew United Methodist Church on Ga. 127.

The gear and trailer belonged to Boy Scout Troop 127.

Joe Kraft, the troop’s Scoutmaster, said the trailer full of gear as well as an empty one belonging to the church were discovered missing from the church property on Monday.

The troop, which is chartered through the church, has kept the trailer on the church grounds for years.

The white trailer had the troop’s logo on it, he said

Kraft said he plans to use the incident as a lesson for the older boys on leadership.

Anyone who would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the church to help replace what was stolen may send a check payable to Andrew United Methodist Church, with Boy Scout Troop 127 on the memo line, 2430 Ga. 127, Kathleen, GA 31047. Kraft may be reached at 987-6023. Anyone with information may contact Perry police at 988-2825.
