Coroner: Warner Robins man involved in car crash died of natural causes

A Warner Robins man involved in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday on the Ga. 247 Connector just west of Lamar Drive in Peach County died of natural causes, Peach County’s coroner said.

James Franklin Malloy, 62, died after an aortic aneurysm ruptured while he was driving, said Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks. Malloy was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

“He definitely didn’t die from the wreck,” Rooks said.

Malloy was driving east on Ga. 247 when he went into the medical emergency and veered off the road, said Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Elbert Slappy. Malloy’s son, who was riding with him, grabbed the wheel and over-corrected, sending the 1994 Nissan Altima spinning counter clockwise back across the road. The car began to overturn when it hit a grassy area and came to rest in a ditch, Slappy said.

The son, 19-year-old Lawrence Gaston Malloy, was taken to Peach Regional Medical Center to be checked out after the 4:20 p.m. accident, authorities said.
