ATHENS- Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, one of the team's top recruiters, can't do any off-campus recruiting for a month because of a very minor NCAA secondary violation.

Back in May, when UGA was hosting the NCAA tennis championships, Bobo and a recruiting intern took a recruit and his mother into the tennis complex without paying.

"A member of the ticket office staff reported this incident to the compliance office," UGA athletics director Greg Mcgarity wrote to SEC commissioner Mike Slive, in a letter dated Sept. 17.

McGarity wrote that UGA reported the incident as a Level II secondary violation, the lowest possible one, "since the price of admission was $8.00 per person. The family has been notified and subsequently submitted restitution in the amount of $20.00."

The name of the recruit was withheld. So was Bobo's name, but UGA provided it.

The UGA compliance staff met with the football coaching staff, as well as the ticket office and event management staff, to reiterate that recruits may not receive complimentary admission to NCAA postseason events.

In addition, UGA on its own decided to prohibit Bobo from recruiting off campus for 30 days (what span was not specified), prohibit any contact with the prospect for 30 days and declare the prospect ineligible. (Essentially, that just means the NCAA has to re-clear the player after the $20 check clears.)
