Published: September 20, 2012

Russell Bentley, a former Bibb County campus police chief, could return to that position if the school board accepts a recommendation from school system administrators.

Bentley now works for Safe Havens International, the company that just performed a safety review of the school system.

He is a 20-year police veteran who served as deputy police chief and then chief of the Bibb County campus police department. He retired as chief in 2009.

Bentley also served for five years with the Macon Police Department, working undercover narcotics, in the patrol division and in the crime prevention bureau, among other duties.

He also served as police chief for the Fort Valley State University Police Department for two years.

Tonight’s full school board meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Committee meetings begin at 4 p.m.
