Suspensions update

Published: September 20, 2012

ATHENS - By now, the prevailing assumption is that Georgia defensive stars Bacarri Rambo and Alec Ogletree are serving four-game suspensions and will return after this weekend. UGA team officials have yet to confirm anything, but another defensive player all but confirmed that on Wednesday night.

Near the end of a seven-minute interview, cornerback Malcolm Mitchell was asked how much more work on offense he's been doing lately.

"It's coming up to about time where I've been doing more offense," Mitchell said. "It's because after this game we get some players back. You know what I mean? Now it's just another shift, and time to get prepared for something else."

To be clear: Mitchell never said Rambo and Ogletree's names, and he never said they were getting players back from suspension. The readers can decide on that point.

Earlier in the interview, when talking about the performance of the defense so far, Mitchell said: "I don't think any player taken off the defense can be fully replaced. You've still got an All-American missing and a potential All-American that's missing too. So with them being gone, we've still got to work hard in some areas."

Mitchell also said of Rambo and Ogletree, "Bringing them back is a total game-changer."
