The Bibb County school system will begin offering flu vaccines to students at school Oct. 1.
Letters and consent forms are being sent home with students for participation in the vaccination program. Students must have a signed consent form to receive the flu vaccination, which will be available by nasal mist or shot, according to a release from the system.
The vaccines that are given during the school-based campaign are available at no out-of-pocket expense to parents. Insurance will be filed for students who are covered by Medicaid, PeachCare, Wellcare, Peachstate, Amerigroup, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia PPO, or a State Health Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna.
