Warner Robins High School opened its competitive cheerleading season with a first place victory at the 2012 Cougar Classic held at Crisp County High School on Sept. 8.
Warner Robins won the AAAAA first-place trophy. The daylong competition featured 19 different schools.
It just solidified all our hard work, said Bethany Belknap, the Warner Robins High varsity coach. It will help build up our confidence for the rest of the season.
But after winning first place, the Demons arent satisfied with their routine. Belknap said additional cheer work will be added to obtain difficulty points as the Demons prepare for their region competition Nov. 3.
We want to be at the best level possible before region, said Belknap.
Kayla Savage, one of the captains of the cheerleading squad, said the win was important, but the Demons would still be working hard on their routine.
We are always trying to improve, to do better. We want to work on harder stuff, while staying clean and showing more spirit, Savage said.
The Cougar Classic also had middle school and junior varsity divisions. Veterans High School finished first out of the three JV teams competing.
