Lane and shoulder closings are expected in both the north and southbound lanes for guardrail repairs, the state Department of Transportation says.

The closures are expected at various times, a state DOT news release stated. Mile marker 132 is near Exit 136 and mile marker 140 near State Route 7/Sam Nunn Boulevard.

The southbound left-lane closure is expected to start at 7 p.m. Thursday and continue until 2 a.m. Friday between mile markers 140 and 133, the release stated. The northbound left-lane closure is expected from 2 a.m. until 4 a.m. Friday at mile marker 132.

Crews are expected to be working in half-mile to one-mile increments and frequently relocating, the release stated. Motorists are advised to be alert to changing work patterns.

State workers with equipment are expected to be near the travel lanes, and motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution, the release stated. Message signs, barrels and cones are expected to be in place to alert motorists.
