Many Houston County students celebrated Constitution Day Monday. In one effort organized by the Georgia Federation of Republican Women, elected officials talked to fifth-graders at several schools, including Bonaire Elementary where Sheriff Cullen Talton spoke. Children received booklets that included copies of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

Separately, students at Mossy Creek Middle School heard Houston County Magistrate Judge Bob Turner talk about the Bill of Rights and how it applies to young people.

Constitution Day celebrates the date, Sept. 17, 1787, that the Founding Fathers signed the Constitution.
