WARNER ROBINS -- A man was found shot late Sunday night in the 100 block of Sunstede Road, police said.
Antonio Sutton, 39, of Warner Robins, was discovered lying on the ground after having been shot in the lower torso, a Warner Robins police news release stated.
He was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where he was listed in stable condition, according to the release issued late Monday afternoon.
Police were dispatched to Sunstede Road in reference to a 911 call of a person with a gunshot wound at 10:47 p.m., the release stated.
Tabitha Pugh, public information officer for Warner Robins police, said police are working on several strong leads involving a male suspect but declined to elaborate.
The shooting took place outside in the view of several people, Pugh said. She said the witnesses are cooperating with police.
Pugh said a suspect description was not available.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, she said.
The shooting took place in the same neighborhood where a Northside High School football player was shot earlier this month.
Austin Roberts, 17, a defensive lineman, was shot in the back at about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in the 200 block of Wendan Way.
He apparently ran through yards to reach a residence in the 400 block of Camellia Circle one street over for help. He was treated and released the same night from The Medical Center of Central Georgia, police said.
Pugh said she could not say whether the shootings were related since both remain under investigation. No arrests have been made in the earlier shooting, she said.
