AC Pup: It’s a wonderful time of year

September 14, 2012

I love this time of year when the weather gets crisp and football season and fall festivals are under way. One of my favorite events, Woofstock, sponsored by my friends at FurEver Friends, is coming up on Sept. 22 from noon until 6 p.m. at the Jones County Lions Club Fairgrounds. My group, Central Georgia CARES, and I will be there to help them celebrate!

Woofstock is so much fun. Adoptable animals from local rescue groups will be there, and folks from all over will have booths of wonderful animal-related items. It’s always fun to see people and animals party to the bygone era of peace and flower power. Come on out and be sure to look for CARES and me!

Another wonderful event that took place recently was welcoming the fabulous new pet store, TailsSpin, to Macon. They’re located downtown at 570 Mulberry St. in a beautifully renovated space that you just have to see, so stop in and visit.

I took my parents, Aunt Patti and more folks from CARES down there for Yappy Hour, and we had a blast. We met the incredible owners, Mr. Jusak Bernard and Mr. Jeff Manley, and the fabulous manager of the Macon store, Mr. Daniel Polk. I’m so happy they’re in Macon and want to congratulate them on winning the Macon Mogul contest that brought them to our town.

There are two other TailsSpin stores, one in Savannah and the other in Pooler. But when the owners learned of the Macon Mogul competition sponsored by The Gateway Initiative and heard about the wonderful prizes, they knew they had to enter for a chance to come to my beloved hometown.

There were so many worthy contenders for the $50,000 grand prize package that included a year’s worth of business services such as advertising and retail space. But in the end -- and lucky for the animals -- TailsSpin was chosen as the winner.

Now this award-winning store, just named Best Pet Store by Savannah Magazine and 2012-2013 Outstanding General Pet Store from Pet Product News International, is ready for business in Macon. They specialize in hypoallergenic food and local products, some right from Dublin!

Not only do they have premium food, but they also have everything you need to take care of your furry babies, including any supplies you could dream of and dog wash stations, too. It’s really like a very friendly neighborhood pet store with an inventory of food, treats and supplies that will just blow your mind.

And you know what I really like? They are very involved with animal welfare groups and plan community activities to help rescue groups and nonprofits.

They’re just my kind of people at TailsSpin. Stop in to see them. Tell them AC Pup sent you.
