Published: September 11, 2012

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a head-on collision that killed a Dodge County man late Tuesday morning.

Jody Williams, 39, of Rhine, was pronounced dead at the scene where his sport utility vehicle collided with a Dodge County trash truck just before 10:50 a.m. on Ga. 117, said Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith.

William Singletary, the driver of the county-owned vehicle, was taken to the Dodge County Hospital and is expected to survive, Dodge sheriff’s Capt. Tony Winborn said in an e-mail.

No further information was immediately available as the Georgia State trooper was not expected to turn in his report until at least Wednesday, according to the Georgia State Patrol operator at the Helena post.

The accident happened just south of Eastman on the Eastman-Rhine Highway.
