Back City Woods at the Mellow Mushroom
Its good to see the Mellow Mushroom getting back into the live music game. They have a great stage, a very good beer selection, and we already know how good their pizza is. Then, you add one of Macons favorite bands, Back City Woods, into that mix and youve got a fun night in the making. Back City Woods is currently gearing up for the release of their new EP Around The Bend, so expect to hear new songs as well as favorites. Free. 8 p.m.
Christopher Bell and Lanterns at Roasted Cafe and Lounge
Its an indie-pop extravaganza at Roasted Cafe and Lounge! Christopher Bell from Jamestown, N.Y., considers himself a cellist, songwriter and loop artist. He will be bringing all those talents and probably a keyboard as well. Lanterns is a Macon project from singer SaVana Cameron, Jared Wright (the Red Swill) and Chris Nylund (Magtard). Lanterns delivers haunting vocals surrounded by music that hangs like fog on a lake. Free. 18 and up. 8 p.m.
All Get Out at the Cox Capitol Theatre
Charleston, S.C.s All Get Out is used to doing some traveling. They play about 250 shows a year and still somehow found time to record their full length debut, The Season. Now, they are on the Favorite Gentlemen Tour and stopping through Macon at one of our favorite live music venues, the Cox Capitol Theatre. They bring along indie-rock up and comers Harrison Hudson, Death On Two Wheels and the Junior Astronomers. $10. 7 p.m.
Wednesday Sept 5
The Water Liars at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom
The St. Louis-based duo the Water Liars are well versed in the bluesy, Southern gothic sounds loved in this area. They recorded their album, Phantom Limb, on a whim with just one microphone. The album turned out to be far more than they expected, and now they are taking their style on the road. They are joined at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom by Nashvilles electro-rock band Vinyl Thief. Free. 21 and up. 10 p.m.
Thursday Sept 6
Sounduo at Roasted Cafe and Lounge
Electronic meets acoustic when Sounduo hits the stage at Roasted Cafe and Lounge. This Miami-based duo uses a drummer with a full drum kit and an electronic setup complete with pads and triggers to create a very unique live dubstep experience. As always, Roasted delivers one of the most progressive events in Macon. Be sure to try one of their many craft beers. Free. 18 and up. 10 p.m.
