A Macon man is charged with murder after allegedly running over a woman during a domestic dispute Saturday.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Charlene Cowan, 48, was pronounced dead at 5:58 p.m., about 30 minutes after she was run over while standing on her front porch at 2892 Elpis St.
Grelan Muse, 23, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested. According to Bibb County jail records, he is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, battery-family violence, cruelty to a child, and criminal damage to property.
Jones said Muse was the boyfriend of Cowans daughter. The couple had been arguing, and at some point Muse got in his vehicle and ran over Cowan.
She was initially conscious and alert, but died a short time later. Jones said an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, but he suspects Cowan had an internal injury that led to her death.
Her neighbor, Brenda Reeze, came to the scene shortly after the incident and spoke to Cowan. She said Cowan was bleeding from her head and nose.
She was hysterical, Reeze said. Its sad because she was a friend of mine. I just talked her earlier today and she was happy because her grandbaby was coming to spend the weekend.
Reeze said Muse was the father of Cowans grandchild.
