A 28-year-old Macon man is charged with murder in the Saturday shooting death of a Bibb County man.

Nathan Taylor was arrested Tuesday after authorities learned he had a history of using his brother’s name. Sheriff’s deputies had obtained an arrest warrant for 40-year-old Willie Lee Bostic on Monday, but they retracted it Tuesday.

Taylor, of Victoria Circle, is charged with murder in the death of 59-year-old Walter “Walt” Henley, said sheriff’s Lt. Sean DeFoe. Henley was shot on the back porch of his Fulton Mill Road home at about 10 p.m. Saturday.

A man who identified himself as Bostic called The Telegraph on Tuesday afternoon and said he was at his grandmother’s house on Center Street when Henley was shot Saturday. He said he didn’t know Henley.

Earlier in the afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force had received information that Bostic was at a home on Victoria Circle. When they arrived, expecting to find Bostic, instead they found Taylor, said deputy U.S. Marshal John Edgar.

Taylor told the task force members he didn’t know Bostic -- who authorities knew was his brother. He was charged with obstruction and violating parole, Edgar said.

Bostic called authorities Tuesday afternoon, and task force members took him to the sheriff’s office for questioning, Edgar said.

After talking with Bostic and witnesses, deputies discovered Taylor was the brother who had a problem with Henley concerning a car and money. A witness knew Taylor by his brother’s name, said sheriff’s Capt. Mike Smallwood.

Taylor is in jail without bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
