Middle Georgia law enforcement officers promoting railroad safety

WARNER ROBINS -- Middle Georgia law enforcement officers are among those attending a railroad safety class in Macon Friday offered by Georgia Operation Lifesaver in conjunction with the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Norfolk Southern Railway and CSX Transportation.

The class is designed for first responders to gain a better understanding of how to handle and complete thorough investigations involving highway rail crossing collisions, a Warner Robins police news release stated. The class will include hands-on training with a train.

Members of the Warner Robins Police Department, Macon Police Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office and Byron Police Department are participating, the release stated.

The training is at 3033 Waterville Road in Macon.

Operation Lifesaver is a nonprofit organization that promotes railroad safety.
