PERRY -- Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob the clerk at Comfort Inn & Suites at 201 Lect Drive late Thursday.

The suspect was described as a black man, possibly in his 40s, standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds, said Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes.

The man came in and out of the hotel lobby three times during a 30-minute period asking about a room and about renting a block of rooms, Dykes said.

The third time the man came in, he leaned over the counter and had his hand in the waist of his pants intimating that he had a weapon, Dykes said.

The man demanded all the money, but the clerk ran to the back office, Dykes said. The man fled out the door empty-handed.

The 911 call came in at 10:10 p.m.

Anyone with information related to the incident or the man’s identity or whereabouts is asked to contact Perry police detective Jason Jones at (478) 988-2824.
